New Look At Russell Crowe As Noah

Darren Aronofsky's Noah is much more than a 2012-for-biblical-times effects-fest. With the brainy New Yorker and **Gladiator **scribe John Logan behind the story, we're expecting food - sorry, manna - for thought, interspersed with plenty of big action beats.

The bonds of family are a thread that runs through Logan's work in particular, and this fresh patch of stills from the film assembles most of the Noah clan for us. Russell Crowe, of course, is the great boat-building patriarch, but we also meet his son Shem (Logan Lerman), grandfather Methuselah (Anthony Hopkins), and Shem's close confederate Ila (Emma Watson). Head to Fotogramas for the full Noah family album.

The eagle-eyed may have also spotted Ray Winstone in the mix. He plays an as-yet unnamed character who acts as Noah's enemy, causing the seafarer a degree of angst likely to be unrivalled in the history of massive global cataclysms. That said, we give him 10-1 against in the battle against biblical destiny.

**Noah **is out on March 28, 2014 on both sides of the water.
