New Inglourious Basterds Footage

With only four months until **Inglourious Basterds **storms our screens, Quentin Tarantino has unleashed new footage of his WWII opus on the unsuspecting audience of, er, American Idol. This short clip was held back as 'too hot for TV' and, although there's nothing in it as offensive as Simon Cowell's choice of knitwear, it does offer a first glimpse of Mike Myers as General Ed Fenech and on-set action with Tarantino leading the cast in a jaunty chorus of "because we love making movies!" in the La Louisiane bar.

Judging by the footage we've seen so far, Inglourious Basterds is shaping up to be 95% Nazi-nutting mayhem, topped off with at least another 75% total bloody carnage. Expect very few lingering shots of local flora and fauna as QT's extremely dirty dozen travel the French countryside redecorating it 'hint of German'... The Thin Red Line this ain't.

Inglourious Basterds hits cinemas on August 21.
