It’s not often you can call a car a bona fide character – unless you’re talking about Christine, Back To The Future or, well, Cars – but Ecto-1 is no ordinary vehicle. The low-slung ex-ambulance, a centrepiece of this exclusive new Ghostbusters poster, is a beloved fixture in the movie’s world. Chris Hemsworth’s Kevin, here doing his best 007 audition, has some catching up to do.
With only a month until release, the Ghostbusters marketing campaign seems to have righted itself after been shaken by terrifying levels of bile. Paul Feig’s reboot has been a lightning rod for online hate, but with only a month until release, people will soon be able to judging its merits the old-fashioned way: by watching it.
Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, and Leslie Jones lead up the new team of parapsychologists this time out, with Hemsworth tagging along as their hopeless new PA.
McCarthy and Wiig are particle physicists who have “dedicated their lives to the paranormal”; McKinnon is the fire-haired engineering genius; and Jones is the streetsmart addition who knows NYC – and provides the team with the new Ecto-1.
