References to family in the dialogue. Low shots of cars speeding. Explosions. Dwayne Johnson in a tank top. A tank. If you were planning a drinking game around Fast & Furious 8, the new trailer is probably enough to give your liver serious concerns.
Yes, the usual elements are featured here and you've come to know and expect certain things from a Fast movie, in this case which in the States carries the slightly overblown name of The Fate Of The Furious. But then, "overblown" is kind of the mantra for the franchise and it's why we still enjoy it.
This time around, Dom (Vin Diesel) has apparently gone rogue, turning to the dark side to work with Cipher (Charlize Theron). She's a high-tech criminal who as part of her plan has hacked into control systems for cars in all sorts of places, and is out to cause major chaos, including for our heroes. But that's just the tip of the iceberg, and Iceland figures into the scenery here, with the vehicles now including a submarine, leading to yet another audacious move from Mr. Johnson's Luke Hobbs.
Quite how it will all be resolved remains to be seen, but the movie is set for release on 12 April.
