Even as Todd Phillips’ latest, mis-matched buddy road trip comedy Due Date fights and upward battle to not be compared to Planes, Trains and Automobile****s,the latest trailer has arrived with a blend of footage we’ve seen before and some new gags,including one artfully covered up f-bomb from Robert Downey Jr.
You likely know the story by now, but just in case: Downey Jr is Peter Highman, a guy desperately trying to make it back home to his wife (Michelle Monaghan), who is about to pop out their first child. But Peter’s troubles start when he meets wannabe actor Ethan Tremblay (Zach Galifianakis), finds himself stuck on the no-fly list and forced to spend days in various vehicles driving across country with the annoyingly quirky Ethan and his dog.
What should have been a straight trip home to the happiest time of his life becomes a nightmare for Peter, as Ethan gets them into all sorts of misadventures. The best moment of this new promo? Probably the coffee gag.
**Due Date **still has to prove itself, but with support from the likes of Jamie Foxx and Danny McBride, we’re more than willing to give it a shot. The trailer’s up at Apple and the film arrives November 5.
