With direction by guerilla-style filmmaker Neill Blomkamp, a Peter Jackson credit, an snappy sci-fi premise and unsettling Cloverfield-style viral marketing, we fancy **District 9 ** could be the sleeper hit of the late summer. Sony has released three pics from the film - in which aliens are stranded as refugees in a hostile South Africa - including a new still of the alien ship that lingers ominously over the alien slum, District 9.
The **Cloverfield **comparisons don't look ill-placed. There's a distinctly apocalyptic vibe hanging over this story of extraterrestrials driven to desperate measures by the prejudice of humans and the exploitation of the sinister Multi-National United corporation. More as we get it...
