Are We Nearly There Yet?

Robin Williams's family vacation

After two chilling and surprisingly effective turns in One Hour Photo and Insomnia, Robin Williams is planning to return to cuddlier ground with RV. The acronym stands for "recreational vehicle", which for UK readers is a monster camper van of the type driven by Jack Nicholson in About Schmidt, which typically consumes enough petrol to single-handedly cause the disasters about to befall us all in The Day After Tomorrow. What's wrong with the good old-fashioned British caravan, eh? The plot basically concerns your average dysfunctional family taking a road-trip in said gas-guzzling monster for two weeks. Cue danger and trauma as personalities collide and tempers fray. We're guessing that, come the end of the day, everyone will learn the importance of family values and working together, but as long as there are some laughs along the ways, who cares? Williams is currently filming The Big White in Alaska with Holly Hunter, a dark comedy in which he plays a travel agent who pretends that a frozen corpse is his long-lost brother in order to raise the money to take a permanent trip to warmer climes. He also appears in David Duchovny's directorial debut, House of D.
