Between Happy Valley, War & Peace and Grantchester, James Norton has cemented himself as one of Britain’s most watchable actors – and before he heads to Joss Whedon’s Victorian-era superhero show The Nevers, he’ll be seen in upcoming film Mr. Jones. Ahead of its UK debut at the London Film Festival 2019, Empire has the first trailer for the film.

Set in 1933, the movie stars Norton as the titular Gareth Jones, a Welsh journalist who heads to Soviet Russia to report on the supposed ‘utopia’ and try and get an interview with Stalin. Except, when he gets there he discovers the truth of the regime – and has to find a way to bring the story to the wider world. Also starring is Mission: Impossible – Fallout and Hobbs & Shaw’s Vanessa Kirby as British journalist Ada Brooks. The film comes from Polish director Agnieszka Holland, who has previously helmed episodes of The Wire, Treme, and House Of Cards, and the 1993 version of The Secret Garden.

Following its LFF debut on 6 October, Mr. Jones will receive a wider UK release in early 2020.
