It often seems like London is a glowering predator intent on devouring us all, but in Christian Rivers' Mortal Engines that's no longer a metaphor. Based on Philip Reeve's novel, Mortal Engines centres around a dystopian future where sprawling metropolises thunder around on giant wheels, gobbling up smaller townships for resources (something known as 'Municipal Darwinism'). Produced by Peter Jackson, the Mortal Engines stars Hera Hilmar, Robert Sheehan and both Hugo Weaving and Stephen Lang as the film's villains — a pairing we've been waiting our entire lives for. The film will hit UK cinemas a year from now on 14 December 2018.
