The big-screen outing for Marvel’s living vampire has endured more than its fair share of pandemic-related release date pushbacks, but with Sony dropping the definitively titled ‘Final Trailer’ today, it looks like not even a swarm of bats could stop Morbius from swooping into cinemas this spring. Have a watch of the new teaser below:

This latest glimpse at the film really leans into the anti-hero aspect of the character, with plenty of shots of Jared Leto’s Michael Morbius in his fully transformed fanged and furious state, and Matt Smith’s mysterious character Loxias Crown (what a name) telling him to accept who he is – aka. “the bad guy”. Where the last trailer was littered with Spider-Man references, this one focuses more on Morbius as a doctor with a dilemma – someone trying to help people, but ending up hurting them. It also shows us a snapshot of a sequence in a police station that we haven’t seen before, with a cop plonking a bottle of holy water down on the table and referencing The Lost Boys.

With No Way Home out in the world and the concept of the Spidey-verse well established as well as the possibility for the webslinger’s known villains to cross dimensions, plus Michael Keaton appearing here as his Spider-Man: Homecoming character Adrian Toombes, we still don’t know how involved Morbius will be in the MCU as we know it, or if he’ll run into Tom Hardy’s Venom along the way. We’ll find out on 1 April, when Morbius arrives in theatres.
