If there’s one thing the Mission: Impossible series has taught us, it’s that if you leave Ethan Hunt near something dangerous for long enough he’ll try and cling to the edge of it: from a rocky cliff in Utah, to the Burj Khalifa, to the side of a military plane. Putting the fallout into Mission: Impossible — Fallout is Tom Cruise’s latest daring stunt: hanging off a helicopter as it heads higher and higher into the air.

We’ve already got a brief glimpse of the high-stakes sequence — which, of course, Cruise filmed a lot of himself — in the first trailer, and now here’s a brand new shot of one of this summer’s most anticipated set-pieces.

Mission Impossible Fallout

“On this one, there was the constant search for The Stunt,” director Christopher McQuarrie, returning from Rogue Nation, told Empire in the latest issue. “But once I’d let go of it as an obligation, and stopped obsessing about it, another one came. And another one. And another one.” The film not only brings back Rebecca Ferguson’s Ilsa Faust but introduces August Walker, played by Henry Cavill and Henry Cavill’s Moustache, in a plot which sees Ethan Hunt attempting to prevent nuclear armageddon. Or as he calls it by now, just another Tuesday.

Prepare to see Tom Cruise risk his life once again in the name of blockbuster entertainment when Mission: Impossible — Fallout lands in UK cinemas on 26 July. The new issue of Empire is out now, with six Avengers: Infinity War covers to collect. Pick up a copy online here{ =nofollow}.
