With Les Miserables on the horizon, musicals seem set to be enjoying another cinematic renaissance. But what about horror musicals? The last big attempt was** Repo! The Genetic Opera**, which became more of a cult release (and still tours). But the producers of Stage Fright will likely be hoping for a little more box office impact. Minnie Driver will be keeping her fingers crossed too, as she’s just joined the cast.

Meat Loaf, Allie MacDonald and Douglas Smith are already all aboard the film, which finds a snobby musical theatre camp terrorised by a violent masked killer who despises, as if you couldn’t guess, musical theatre. Driver is on to play the mother of MacDonald and Smith, who also happens to be a haunted Broadway star.

Director Jerome Sable wrote the script for the movie, as well as composing the music and co-writing the lyrics with Eli Batalion. He’s aiming to kicking off shooting, singing and dancing next week in Canada.
