Model-turned-actress Milla Jovovich has secured a role in Michael Winterbottom's new film, a part that was originally earmarked for Madonna. Set in the Old West, the movie is inspired by Thomas Hardy's novel The Mayor of Casterbridge and is set during the California gold rush. Madonna was set to play the role of a local saloon songstress but dropped out, as did Charlize Theron, who was also attached to the project earlier this year.
