Though he's primarily worked on the big screen, Nicolas Winding Refn has been planning to bring his particular style to TV for a while now. He's hatched a deal for a drama series called Too Old To Die Young with Amazon and has now hired Miles Teller to star.

Refn is aboard to co-write the series and direct all 10 episodes, with scripts also coming from comic veteran Ed Brubaker who has worked with the director on the Maniac Cop remake he's producing and contributed work to the first season of Westworld.

The new show will see Teller as Martin, a police officer ensnared in a world of assassins as the story explores the criminal underbelly of Los Angeles. Here, killers go on existential journeys to become samurai. Yup, sounds like Refn all right. "I’m a huge fan of Nic’s work so the opportunity to work with him, and for a company like Amazon, with this type of material is very exciting," says Teller in a statement carried by Variety.

The actor will next be seen in firefighting drama Granite Mountain (out 22 September) and PTSD pic Thank You For Your Service.
