Mike Myers will star as The Who drummer Keith Moon in a new, as yet untitled biopic being planned by Spitfire Productions. The Who's Roger Daltry will also be one of the producers. No writer or director has yet been assigned.

Moon was the famously destructive and self-destructive musician who defined rock 'n' roll. Famous for trashing drum kits, hotel rooms, houses and himself, Moon was not only an innovative and hugely influential musician, but someone who lived equally large off-stage. He died of a drug overdose in 1978 at the age of 31.

The company behind the film, Spitfire productions, produced the much-lauded recent documentary on Bob Dylan, and are also working on a documentary about The Who called My Generation: Who's Still Who. The film is set for the fast-track, and a director should be announced soon.
