Mickey Rourke is still a man demand these days. While he’s been figuring out whether to star in at least two new Tony Scott projects and a few other movies, he’s also just been attached to star as a hit man in an adaptation of Philip Carlo’s book The Ice Man: Confessions of a Mafia Contract Killer.

Ice Man’s plot will follow the true story of Richard “The Ice Man” Kuklinski, who spent 40 years living a secretive double life as an infamous professional assassin who also happened to be a loving husband and father.

The news has emerged from the Toronto Film Festival, where Rourke is appearing in his latest pic, Passion Play, alongside Megan Fox. Deadline reports that the actor has signed on to star in the film version of the tale, which** American History X**’s David McKenna is now writing.**

“Richard Kuklinski’s life and Philip Carlo’s true account, three years in the making, is fascinating and unlike any mafia story that’s been brought to the big screen,” says Matty Beckerman, the CEO of production company Natural Selection. “This is a role Mickey Rourke was born to play and as a huge fan of David McKenna’s work, I am thrilled to have him on board.” It must be nice to know people think “brutal, mercenary murderer” when they look at your mush.
