She was his canny, protective screen mother in Crazy Rich Asians (not to mention one of the best things in the film), and now Michelle Yeoh is following Henry Golding into another movie. She's joined the cast of Last Christmas.

Paul Feig's directing the seasonal romantic comedy, which has a script by Emma Thompson and Bryony Kimmings and follows what happens when Kate (Emilia Clarke) working as an elf in a year-round Christmas shop, finds unexpected love with Tom (Golding), who seems to be able to sidestep all her usual emotional barriers. She starts to wonder if he's too good to be true...

One of the film's selling points – as that title might suggest – is music by the late George Michael, including the Christmas perennial and some new, unreleased material.

Last Christmas will be out on 15 November next year. Yeoh has worked on Joe Carnahan's new action triller Boss Level and has been in talks to feature in a spin-off series from Star Trek: Discovery.
