The cast is already hard at work on the remake of 1972 blaxploitation drama Superfly, but there's room for one more. Michael K. Williams is taking the role of Scatter.

With music video man Director X. (AKA Julien Christian Lutz) in the director's chair and Alex Tse on script duty, the new movie will follow a cocaine dealer who looks to secure one more big haul before quitting the business. Suffice to say, it won't be that easy.

Williams joins a cast that already includes Trevor Jackson, Jason Mitchell, Lex Scott Davis, Andrea Londo, Jacob Ming-Trent, Omar Chapparo and Allen Maldonado. Joel Silver's producing the film for Sony, with rapper Future working on the soundtrack. It's scheduled to arrive (in the States at least) on 15 June this year. Between this and recent hints of a Black Dynamite sequel, it appears Blaxploitation is well and truly back.
