Directed by Derek Cianfrance, The Light Between Oceans has its dramatic fingers ready to pluck heartstrings and give tear ducts a workout, set in a remote part of post-war Australia. Fassbender and Vikander play a married couple who live in a lighthouse, but cannot conceive children. When a baby washes ashore, it appears to be the answer to all their prayers – until the baby’s real mother, played by Rachel Weisz, shows up. Yeah, that's not going to end well, but given it's Cianfrance, were you surprised?
It’s based on the best-selling book of the same name by M.L. Stedman, and the screenplay has been adapted by Cianfrance himself. With Bryan Brown and Jack Thompson also in the cast, The Light Between Oceans is out on November 4. The trailer is below looking to hit you right in the heart.
