Michael Bay Pitting Zombies Vs Robots

We all know how much Michael Bay loves him some robot action. He’s directed two massive Transformers blockbusters (with one more about to hit us) and the chances that the metallic men might destroy the odd building or two is something that has his heart growing several sizes. Now it looks like he’s aiming to combine that robophilia with another big current trend – zombies, as Sony has picked up the rights to IDW comic book Zombies Vs Robots for Bay’s Platinum Dunes company to produce.

Chris Ryall and Ashley Wood launched the book in 2006, and it’s set on a post-apocalyptic world overrun with the undead. So far, so factory standard for zombies, but then it introduces a team of robots into the mix who are tasked with tracking down the last surviving human baby and cloning her so we can survive.

JT Perry, who wrote horror pic The Burrowers, is using the basic plot of the series to spin off a fresh tale called Inherit the Earth, but it’s not known exactly how different any final film would be from the comics. And it’s highly unlikely Bay will be directing this one – he might have a thing for robots, but we reckon he’s ready to let someone else deal with them for a while…
