Mobsters have been all over cinema screens for years, but Andrea Berloff's directorial debut, The Kitchen, promises a different flavour. Melissa McCarthy, Tiffany Haddish and Elisabeth Moss star, and the first trailer is online.

The story finds the trio as 1978 Hell’s Kitchen housewives whose mobster husbands are sent to prison by the FBI. Left with little but a sharp ax to grind, the ladies take the Irish mafia’s matters into their own hands – proving unexpectedly adept at everything from running the rackets to taking out the competition... literally.

While it might not obviously appear that way, Berloff adapted the script from the DC Vertigo comic book series created by Ollie Masters and Ming Doyle. The cast also includes the likes of Domhnall Gleeson, Margo Martindale, Common, Bill Camp and James Badge Dale.

The Kitchen will arrive in UK cinemas on 20 September. For those outside Blighty who might not be able to view the trailer, find a more region friendly version below.
