Netflix is never one to let a trend pass it by, and its already in business with comics creator Mark Millar. It's also getting into full-on superhero comedy, landing the new film from director Ben Falcone and wife/star Melissa McCarthy. She and Octavia Spencer are on board for Thunder Force.
Falcone also wrote the script, and while the details are being kept under wraps for now, Deadline has heard that it'll find the two getting special abilities and using them in comedic ways. Which would make sense for the Falcone/McCarthy movie factory.
There's no word yet on when this one might arrive on the streaming service, but it'll kick off shooting in the autumn. Falcone and McCarthy have Superintelligence due later this year and she'll be seen in mob drama The Kitchen, out on 20 September.
Spencer, meanwhile, is fresh off executive producing Oscar winner Green Book and will bring danger to the screen in Ma (31 May).
