With several big films already under her belt, and more on the way (plus appearing in The Handmaid's Tale on TV), McKenna Grace has scored another sought-after assignment, working with Olivia Wilde on her next film. Grace is joining the cast of Perfect.

Thomasin McKenzie is already on board to star in the film, which has had a relatively swift journey. Searchlight Pictures snapped up Ronnie Sandahl's script once Wilde became interested off the back of successful debut Booksmart. The drama is described as "an intimate and unflinching portrait of grit and determination. Perfect charts the story behind Kerri Strug’s (McKenzie) historic Olympic vault to secure America’s first ever gymnastics team gold in 1996." Most notably, Strug performed the vault despite a serious ankle injury, and was carried to the winner's podium by her coach. Sandahl adapted the screenplay from the book by Strug and John P. Lopez.

Grace's role hasn't been disclosed, though she could conceivably be a young teammate, a family member or even a younger version of Strug (she has form playing main characters at different ages, including in Captain Marvel and I, Tonya). The film should be shooting next year. Grace has horror movie Malignant due on 10 September, followed by Ghostbusters: Afterlife on 11 November.
