The Batman: Early Batmobile shots

Following on from his reveal of Robert Pattinson in the Bat suit for The Batman, co-writer/director Matt Reeves has turned his attention to another iconic element of the Caped Crusader's arsenal: the Batmobile. He's posted some first look pics below.

Keeping with the moody overtones of the suit camera test, this definitely gives off a noir-ish feel, and while the vehicle has a beast of an engine, it's not the stocky Tumbler of the Chris Nolan era or the squat tank of Zack Snyder's vision for the Bat. This is very much a muscle car with sweeping lines and, we'd guess, a few tricks up its sleev... wheel wells. Whether that's actually Pattinson standing next to it remains to be seen (stunt doubles have been pictured in set shots of Batman's new bike), though it certainly looks like him in the first pic.

The Batman will be Reeves' (and co-writer Mattson Tomlin) take on the iconic DC character, reportedly eschewing the origin-story route to take place in the Bat's Year Two. Though the plot is mostly a mystery for now (if they keep to the idea of the character as a detective, it should be a mystery anyway but... yeah, we'll stop), what we do know is the cast includes Zoë Kravitz as Catwoman, Colin Farrell as The Penguin, Paul Dano as The Riddler, Andy Serkis as Alfred, John Turturro as crime boss Carmine Falcone and Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner Jim Gordon. Filming is well underway and the movie is scheduled to brood on rooftops before leaping into UK cinemas on 25 June next year.
