Matt Damon - Downsizing

"Quick – turn him over with a spatula!" roared Ice Cube in a track we'd better not name here. But that spatula business is, it turns out, a key part of the Downsizing process, and you can see Matt Damon being scooped up in this exclusive clip from Alexander Payne's upcoming high-concept sci-fi dramedy.

Returning to the Midwestern locale of Payne's brilliant Nebraska, Downsizing sees a world in which scientists attempt to solve the problem of overpopulation by shrinking people to five inches tall – the idea being that they thereby use fewer resources and take up much less space.

Those who volunteer for the shrinkage – including Damon's Paul Safranek – are instantly richer and are promised a better quality of life, but such a life is not without its challenges, and the procedure is irreversible.

With a script by Payne and regular writing partner Jim Taylor, Downsizing also features Kristen Wiig, Jason Sudeikis, Christoph Waltz, Hong Chau, Laura Dern and Neil Patrick Harris. It'll reach big screens at full size in the UK on 24 January.
