The Matrix news cycle is really speeding up. Just a few hours ago, word arrived that Neil Patrick Harris was joining the new movie. Following that, Deadline brings the news that Jada Pinkett Smith, who played Niobe in The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions is in talks to return for the fourth film.

Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss are already aboard, and co-writer/director Lana Wachowski has added Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (still rumoured to play a younger version of Morpheus, which means it'll be interesting if he and Niobe meet, given their history) to the cast.

Pinkett Smith's deal hasn't yet closed, but chances are she'll be back battling the machines – or whatever the plot might be for the new movie.
