Weeds star Mary-Louise Parker has joined the cast of Michael Douglas’ new black comedy, Solitary.

She’s signed on to play the high-powered society girlfriend of Douglas’ shady and seedy ex-car dealer, whose unethical behaviour has jeopardised his career and marriage (to Susan Sarandon).

She rounds off a cracking cast for the movie, which will be directed by Brian Koppelman (who wrote the script) and David Levien. As well as Sarandon, Danny DeVito and The Office: An American Workplace’s Jenna Fischer are already on board.

The movie, which is executive produced by Steven Soderbergh, will begin filming next month in New York. Which works out nicely for Parker, who’s preparing to star in Henrik Ibsen’s Hedda Gabler in the Big Apple from January.
