Despite the focus on Iron Man at the moment given his sequel’s impending arrival in our cinemas, there has naturally been talk of other Marvel heroes and their likely transition to the screen of late. Marvel’s Kevin Feige spent the weekend being grilled for every last scintilla of information, and he let fly some details on when we might expect Edgar Wright to stop filling his days with** Scott Pilgrim** and start making Ant Man.

While Pilgrim will keep Edgar busy for a big chunk of this year - it doesn’t arrive until August; he’s still working on it, and has to promote the thing around the world – the Marvel Studios bosses have been dragging him into their offices whenever he’s in California to have a chat about the timeline for their teensy tiny hero film.

Chatting with Superhero Hype, Feige reveals: "Edgar was in LA last week, we sat down, and we started working on a calendar of when to get him back into it once he finishes promoting Scott Pilgrim, so I think towards the end of this year, early next year we'd start looking at early prep for that, but certainly for a release date after The Avengers."

So there you have it, the very latest. The Avengers – which by the way does not yet have a 100% confirmed director, with Feige saying Joss Whedon’s hiring is “not official” – arrives in 2012 and so we can likely look forward to Ant Man either in late 2012 or mid 2013. Assuming, of course, some other shiny thing doesn’t turn Edgar’s head, or Simon Pegg and Nick Frost don’t hold it underwater until he agrees to make the third part of the Cornetto Trilogy first.
