If you wanted any sense of closure in the ongoing Marvel Cinematic Universe, Avengers: Endgame gave you exactly that – we won’t detail exactly how or why, in case you’re one of the few people who hasn’t seen the record-smashing blockbuster yet. But for all that there was the sense of an ending about the fourth Avengers movie, it also sets up plenty of questions about where the MCU goes next. Beyond Spider-Man: Far From Home, which arrives in UK cinemas in just under two months, the next phase of the mega-franchise remains under wraps.

Not for long though. As reported by Variety, Disney CEO Bob Iger suggested at the company's latest earnings call that the upcoming Marvel slate will be announced this summer, claiming there are “huge opportunities” and “many different directions” that the next run of films could take. Could we find out which films and stories are coming next once Far From Home arrives? Will they announce it all at San Diego Comic-Con in mid-late July? Or could it all be something to look forward to at Disney’s D23 expo at the end of August?

While Marvel itself hasn’t confirmed any plans, reports from recent months suggest that upcoming films will include sequels to Black Panther and Doctor Strange, with new arrivals in Shang-Chi and The Eternals, plus the long-awaited Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3 and Black Widow spin-off. All that, and Captain Marvel and Ant-Man And The Wasp are surely due follow-ups. We also know prospective release slots for the next bunch of Marvel movies – from Disney’s recent document of upcoming dates, it seems we’re getting two Marvel films in 2020, three in 2021, and another three in 2022. By the end of the summer, we should know what those are – for now, join us in imagining 14 million alternate futures of where it all goes next.
