Blade MCU

Ever since Kevin Feige brought Mahershala Ali on stage at 2019's Comic-Con to announce his casting as day-walking vampire Blade for the MCU's take on the character, the project has been quietly bubbling away on the development stove. We've heard little about it, partly because Marvel's schedule is already packed and pandemic delays have meant everything being pushed back. Now, though, we have actual news, as The Hollywood Reporter brings word that Watchmen writing team veteran Stacy Osei-Kuffour will handle the script.

Marvel has been looking for the right writer to handle the movie for months, with Ali actively involved in the search. Osei-Kuffour marks the first time a black woman is writing an MCU movie, having started her career as a playwright before moving into TV with PEN15, Watchmen and Hunters.

Nothing is known yet about what the Blade movie will feature (we could see it being a new origin story), and the next step is to find a director.
