Martyrs Director Tackles Tall Man

No, this is nothing to do with Phantasm or Angus Scrimm... as far as we know. Pascal Laugier's The Tall Man is, according to the director, "a woman in jeopardy movie with lots of twists". Jessica Biel is set to star.

Another "woman in jeopardy movie" from the director of the absolutely extraordinary Martyrs might sound like something you'd have to steel yourself for for about a week before seeing it. But this is Laugier's English-language debut (he was attached to a Miramax remake of Hellraiser for a while, but it went south), so we're guessing he'll be softening his edges a bit for what he calls "Panic Room, but outside!" Er...

Still, it's certainly a return to Biel's scream-queen Texas Chainsaw / Blade roots. She'll play a mother on the trail of her daughter, who The Tall Man has kidnapped. Reports that she's been taken in order to be turned into a dwarf and shipped off to be a slave on Mars, are made up by us... as far as we know.

Shooting starts in Vancouver in September.
