Martin Campbell’s a busy boy.

The Casino Royale director yesterday cast Mel Gibson in his big screen remake of Edge Of Darkness, the classic BBC mini-series that put him on the map as a helmer. And today, it’s emerged that he’s working on another big-budget blockbuster, which will presumably begin once he’s finished with Edge.

The as-yet untitled movie, which is described only as a ‘contemporary spy thriller’ has been set up at United Artists, the Tom Cruise-part-owned studio. However, although it seems likely that the movie is being put together as a vehicle for Cruise, United Artists won’t confirm or deny anything at this point.

The flick has been squeezed from the mind grapes of 24 co-creator Joel Surnow, who will write the script along with 24 co-exec producer, Michael Loceff.

"This is an original concept that both UA and I feel will have an impact creatively and commercially," Surnow told Variety.

The movie will be produced by Lakeshore Entertainment’s Gary Lucchesi and Tom Rosenberg. And that's all the news that's fit to print thus far. We'll keep you posted.
