Marti Noxon, a star of TV screenwriting for her work on the likes of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and most recently Mad Men, has signed on to adapt the remake of horror-comedy Fright Night, which will put her firmly back in the Buffy vampire zone again.

The remake's on its way from DreamWorks, and tells the story of an ordinary teenager who learns that his neighbours are vampires and recruits the star of his favourite TV show to help get rid of them.

The plan is to make the effects rather more up-to-date this time, while keeping the scary-funny tone firmly in place. And certainly if anyone's going to do that, Noxon's a good choice. We just secretly hope, given the impressive pipes she displayed in the Buffy musical episode Once More With Feeling{ =nofollow}, she crams in a few song-and-dance numbers for good measure. That, or Don Draper in a suit - we're not fussy.
