The cameras are set to begin rolling this week on Alan Turing drama The Imitation Game, which features Benedict Cumberbatch and Keira Knightley starring. Now we know that Mark Strong, Matthew Goode, Charles Dance, Allen Leech and Matthew Beard will also be on screen{ =nofollow}.

Headhunters' Morten Tyldum is calling the shots, working from a script by Graham Moore which itself adapts Andrew Hodges’ book Alan Turing: The Enigma.

Cumberbatch’s Turing, of course, was the legendary mathematician and cryptography expert who helped crack the German enigma code during World War II. Figuring out the code meant learning the enemy’s tactics and movements, and became a crucial element of the Allies’ victory.

Sadly, Turing’s story doesn’t end there: despite his genius and heroism, he was hounded and prosecuted by the government for his homosexuality and ended up committing suicide.

There’s no word on when it’ll hit beyond a rough plan for next year, but it sounds like the sort of project that might be talked about for awards season if it works.
