The original Manga for tech thriller **Ghost In The Shell **is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year (with a new poster to boot). So what better time for news to break about the planned live-action version that DreamWorks is developing? The Wolf Of Wall Street’**s Margot Robbie is in early talks to star.

With Rupert Sanders aboard to direct, the film will, like the various anime movies before it, draw from Masamune Shirow’s story of a covert ops unit from the Japanese National Public Safety Commission that targets technology-related crime. If her deal goes through, Robbie will be a character based on Motoko Kusanagi, a cyborg law enforcer and one of the best on the team.

This one has been lumbering through development for some time, with William Wheeler providing the most recent draft of the script. Robbie, meanwhile, has seen her career explode since she stole scenes in Martin Scorsese’s latest. She’s already shot Z For Zachariah and con man drama Focus and is at work playing Jane in the latest take on Tarzan. Ghost In The Shell could, if it works out, launch her as a new action star.
