Apocalyptic drama for Fox Searchlight

Former music video director Marc Webb has only just turned his hand to features – but he must be doing something right, for Fox Searchlight has just tapped him to direct his second movie... before his first has even been released.

Webb will direct and possibly write Age Of Rage, a thriller set in a dystopian future that apparently combines elements of Children Of Men and Lord Of The Flies.

It'll be in stark contrast to Webb's first movie, 500 Days Of Summer, a quirky rom-com starring Zooey Deschanel and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. That will be released next year by Fox Searchlight, and clearly they like what they see in Webb, who has directed videos for the likes of Snow Patrol and Miley Cyrus.

And that, in its own way, is as eclectic as moving from a rom-com to a dark sci-fi thriller, so our interest is certainly piqued. The new David Fincher? The new Michael Bay? Time will tell...
