For a chap who was making films for a mere $7,000 a couple of years ago, director Joe Carnahan had done rather well. Thanks to the success of his excellent cop drama Narc with Ray Liotta and Jason Patric, Carnahan has been given the job of a lifetime and will direct agent Ethan in his next outing Mission: Impossible 3. Replacing David Fincher in the director's seat after the Fight Club helmer's shooting schedule became too hectic, Carnahan's hard-fought but meteoric rise to the top has now been grandly confirmed. But before he can go out to play with the Impossible Missions Force or even dare to hum that tune, the busy Carnahan has to also consider his other big-budget project, Killing Pablo, the tale of Colombian drug lord Pablo Escobar. Struggling filmmakers, take courage.
