Madonna has surprised New York university students when she turned up to discuss her career and new film. She arrived unannounced at City University's Hunter College as part of the MTV series Stand In. Students were just expecting a screening of the singer’s documentary I'm Going To Tell You a Secret, but they were also given the chance to grill the singer, albeit lightly. "The biggest mistake that any of us can make is to believe what other people say about us," she told the class, before being questioned about the film, Kabbalah and her music and public image. "I don't feel like I'm trying on personas," she said. “What I always hope to do is change and evolve. I have no regrets because that's life and life is about change." Student Ruomi Lee-Hampel said: "Hearing a director speak about his work was my purpose in coming. It was just an added bonus to see Madonna in fishnets."
