Luke Evans On For The Raven

Luke Evans’ star is definitely on the rise these days- he’s moving from smaller parts in big films like Robin Hood and Clash of the Titans to flirting with Gemma Arterton in Tamara Drewe (lucky git). And now he’ll play a detective in James McTeigue’s The Raven.

The film, which fictionalises the last days of writer Edgar Allan Poe’s life, finds the literary legend (John Cusack) on the track of a serial killer who has kidnapped his fiancee (who The Hollywood Reporter has just announced will be played by Alice Eve){ =nofollow}.

Evans will be the police officer who joins Poe on his quest to stop the evil psycho, a man who has apparently become a little bit too obsessed with the writer’s work.

McTeigue is gearing up to direct the film in a couple of weeks in Budabest and Serbia, which wil be sharing the task of playing Baltimore circa 1849. Evans, meanwhile, will next be seen as Zeus in Tarsem Singh’s Immortals (a bit of a promotion after playing Apollo very briefly in Titans) and swashing a buckle as Aramis, one of the **Three Musketeers **in Paul WS Anderson's new 3D take on the characters.
