You can always rely on the MTV movie awards to raise a laugh or two, and this year's ceremony, which took place in LA at the weekend - was no exception. Headed up by Saturday Night Live comedian Jimmy Fallon and Kirsten Dunst - one of the team's big hits this year was somehow persuading Twentieth Century Fox to let chorus dancers don real Planet of the Apes costumes as part of a musical spoof of Madonna's Don't Tell Me (Trust us - you're going to have to see this!). Other exclusives included bringing together Christina Aguilera, Lil' Kim, Mya, and Pink on stage to give 'the first and only live performance of Lady Marmalade from the upcoming Moulin Rouge and having George Lucas present the award for Best New Filmmaker to Sofia Coppola for The Virgin Suicides. The big winners of the year were no big surprise: Julia Roberts took the Best Actress honour for Erin Brockovich, while Tom Cruise picked up the Best Actor gong for M . The full list of awards goes as follows: BEST MOVIE: Gladiator BEST MALE PERFORMANCE: Tom Cruise - Mission: Impossible 2 BEST FEMALE PERFORMANCE: Julia Roberts
