What do you get when you combine stylistic visionary David Fincher, Deadpool’s no-holds-barred director Tim Miller, and a streaming service unafraid to stray away from mainstream programming? Something like LOVE DEATH + ROBOTS, that’s what. The creative duo are presenting a new 18-episode animation anthology on Netflix, a barrage of oddities in a vast range of visual styles, ranging from five to 15 minutes long. To give you a taste of what you’ll be in for when the series drops, here’s an exclusive image as seen in the new issue of Pilot TV.
As well as PVC-clad gimps, the three-hour series will elsewhere involve sentient dairy products, alien spiders, flesh-ripping werewolves and – of course – those titular androids. It’s set to be a visceral blast, unlike anything else out there in mainstream media. “I’m so excited the creative landscape has changed enough for adult-themed animation to become part of a larger cultural conversation,” Miller enthuses to Pilot TV.
