Doctor Strange

You'll likely know that we at Empire are big fans of Michael Giacchino and his pun-tasting way around a score. The Oscar-winning composer's latest job is Doctor Strange for Marvel and if you've been wondering what his music might sound like, you can listen to the final track – called The Master Of The Mystic End Credits, because of course it is – below.

And it's clear that this is a different score for Giacchino, who is often inventive and seems to be channelling a host of inspirations. Do we detect a hint of both Doctor Who and the Beeb's TV version of The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy? Just on the basis of this, we can't wait to hear the rest, full of psychedelic guitars and strings, which sounds like no other Marvel score before it.

With Benedict Cumberbatch, Rachel McAdams, Tilda Swinton, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Benedict Wong and Mads Mikkelsen in the cast and Scott Derrickson directing, Doctor Strange will be out in the UK on the 25th of this month before transporting itself to the US on November 4. There's more to be found about the movie in the latest Empire, on sale now in all good and mystical newsagents or available for subscription right here.
