Doug Liman is going sci fi. The Mr and Mrs Smith director has signed up to direct Jumper, which is planned as the first part of an adventure trilogy.

The film’s plot centres on a 17-year-old who’s attempting to escape his abusive father when he discovers that he can teleport from one place to another.

The script was originally written by Batman Begins scribe David Goyer, and is being re-written by Fight Club adaptor Jim Uhls.
