Lily Collins Out Of Evil Dead Remake

Whoops… Looks like Sam Raimi, director Fede Alvarez and the rest of the Evil Dead remake gang will need to find themselves a new leading lady. Because according to Variety’s Jeff Sneider, Lily Collins has decided to skip a jaunt to the cabin in the woods because of a scheduling clash.

You might recall that, earlier this month, the horror obsessives over at Bloody Disgusting dug up word that Collins was in talks to star in the new take on Raimi’s splatter classic. While there was no official confirmation of her locking in a deal to star, it now appears there never will be, since she’s outta there.

So what’s the clash? Sneider doesn’t say exactly, but the most likely suspect is a combo of Collins’ promotional work for upcoming Snow White tale Mirror Mirror and filming on novel adaptation T****he Mortal Instruments, which Scott Stewart is setting up to direct.

The Evil Dead, in the meantime, will need to find someone to play Mia, a young woman who heads out on a trip to a remote cabin with her friends. Naturally, demonic forces are lurking and our heroes are possessed one by one…

Alvarez is looking to start shooting in March and is staring down the barrel of an April 2013 US release date. He’s working from a script he co-wrote with Rodo Sayagues, with a little bit of polishing assistance from Diablo Cody.

As mentioned, Collins will show up next in Mirror Mirror, which arrives here on March 16.
