Leonardo DiCaprio is one of those actors that most animation studios would love to nab for their projects, and now DreamWorks has secured him to voice Jack Frost in 'toon adventure The Guardians.

The film - Guardians is the working title for now - will be adapted by playwright David Lindsay-Abaire from William "Shrek" Joyce's upcoming novel series The Guardians Of Childhood.

Bet you want to know the plot, so here it is: an evil spirit called Pitch (boo!) hatches a plot to take over the world by scaring kids everywhere (hiss!), a group of our greatest heroes - including Santa, The Easter Bunny, the Tooth Fairy and Jack Frost (DiCaprio), join together to use their various powers to fight the fresh danger. Hooray! Sorry... Went a bit panto there.

Peter Ramsey is directing with assistance from Joyce, who will publish the first book in 2011. The film, meanwhile, will arrive in November 2012.
