Len Wiseman has signed on to develop, and one day direct, graphic novel Shrapnel on the big screen. It's being developed as a live-action and possibly 3D project - watch the Avatar effect ripple outwards - with a video-game also being developed at the same time.

The story's set in a future where mankind has colonised the solar system and a government called the Solar Alliance has united all the planets: except for a rebellious group of colonists on Venus, where a former Marine reluctantly leads the fight back for independence.

It all sounds a bit Serenity to us, although Wiseman compares the hero more to the John McClane of his Die Hard 4, so we shall have to see if it's tight pants or white vests that predominate in the end.

Wiseman's also working on Presidential thriller **Motorcade **for next year, as well as **Atlantis Rising **for 2011 and, at some point, Gears of War. It's not clear, then, where this fits in, but it's definitely on his To Do list.
