World’s busiest funnymen Phil Lord and Chris Miller are currently beavering away on a number of projects, including the Men In Black/Jump Street crossover, an animated Spider-Man, and their Alden Ehrenreich-starring Han Solo film. But when it comes to the pair, there’s really only one upcoming film on our minds: LEGO Batman.

Yes, Will Arnett’s mopey caped crusader returns with a solo film next year after stealing the show in 2014’s LEGO Movie, and Lord and Miller (on producing duties this time around) have been quick to show their support to new director Chris McKay, best-known for his work on Adult Swim’s Robot Chicken.

“[McKay] is a real Batman aficionado and knows really arcane stuff that was only in one issue of the comic book in 1972,” Miller told Collider, “so it is chock-full of stuff for Batman aficionados. It is just a 90-minute Easter egg”.

With so many incarnations of Batman to riff off, the team have a hive of comic material at their behest – and it sounds like Snyder’s Dawn Of Justice could very well get the full brunt of their comic force. “There is no favouritism, and there are no limits,” according to Lord. “It heavily honours the comics, so it covers all the way through to Batman v Superman.

The LEGO Batman Movie flies into cinemas in February 2017, with the recently announced LEGO Ninjago Movie (also produced by Lord and Miller and including the voices of Jackie Chan and Dave Franco) due the following September.
