Gilmore Girls legend and Bad Santa star Lauren Graham is set to play Emma Roberts' mother in Scream 4, Wes Craven's return to the horror franchise. Instantly, our expectations for the film's wit levels have shot up about 15 points.

Graham joins the already-cast Roberts, who plays Jill Kessler, one of Neve Campbell's Sydney Bristow character's cousins. Graham will, therefore, presumably be Sydney's aunt. Hayden Panetierre is Jill's best friend (a "nerdy film geek", which is exceedingly odd casting), Rory Culkin is a friend and potential love-interest, and Lake Bell is Deputy Judy Hicks, a police officer, former school contemporary of Sydney's and big fan of David Arquette's Dewey.

Scream 4 is out on April 15, 2011 in the US, and hopefully thenabouts here in the UK as well.
