Laura Linney has signed on to star opposite Scarlett Johansson in The Nanny Diaries, in the film based on the best-selling book of the same name by Nicola Kraus and Emma McLaughlin.
The story follows Annie Braddock (Johansson), a young woman who becomes a nanny on Manhattan’s wealthy Upper East Side for a family referred to as the “Xs”. The elite world, however, is not entirely welcoming to a girl from Jersey, and Mrs X (Linney) makes it clear that she expects Braddock to cater to her every whim.
Shari Springer Berman and Robert Pulcini (the writers and co-directors of **American **Splendor) wrote the screenplay and will direct.
