Working on gritty US police drama The Shield has shown that co-executive producer Kurt Sutter knows a thing or two about tough cops.

So it’s no surprise that Warner Brothers has him locked into a two-picture deal, the first of which is his script In-Crime. The drama tracks the controversial Special Investigations Section of the LAPD, which likely translates to “do whatever the hell it takes to catch the bad guys.” Expect rough justice. Training Day’s Antoine Fuqua had planned to direct, but now – since he’s busy with Mark Wahlberg sniper drama The Shooter – it appears he’ll just produce.

The other project on Sutter’s plate is a slightly more sci-fi cop drama. The Unforgettable (formerly Species X), which sees a cop realising he might not quite be of this Earth as he hunts for a serial killer. With a deal to tie into a video game, expect that one after In-Crime. Oh, and there’s another high-profile producer attached to Unforgettable: David Goyer will be handling production duties.
